Front Porch Address Pillow & Family Bench

There are so many inspiring versions of front-porch Address Pillows out there on Pinterest (follow me) these days!  I finally got my act together to make a Frugal one for my new home.

YUCK!  Totally gross pillows that I picked up for $0.50 at the ReStore.  BUT, as gross as they are on the outside, they've got perfectly good stuffing inside!

Next, I picked up two burlap-colored dishtowels from the Dollar Tree.  Dishtowels are great to use when making pillows because they are already the same length/width and the edges are already finished.

I don't have a fancy Cricut or stencils, so I just had to wing it, using this Blogger's pillow as an inspiration:

Just What I Squeeze In

Here's my version.  I drew it on with a fine point marker first, then filled it in with craft paint.

To sew this pillow, I put both towels right sides out and sewed a quick seam tracing the outer-most white line already woven into the towels, leaving a little spot to put the stuffing inside.  Super easy!

My bench got a big makeover, too!  Here's what it looked like BEFORE:

...and AFTER a little cherry red spray paint & Family Detail:

Did I give that bench a makeover just so that my pillow would look nice sitting on it?  Yes, yes I did!

  1. I love your frugal-ness. We went to the same college up in heaven. That is exactly what I love to do. I actually walk in to a thrift store and get happy anxiety over what deals I am going to find. This is really cute and it makes it doubley cute that it was so cheap to create.
