Gift Idea: Chalk Board Silver Platter

It's that time of year when we will be visiting lots of friends & family.  It's only polite to show up with a gift, but those bottles of wine are getting expensive!  How about a different thoughtful, but inexpensive, gift for the Hostess?  Go to the Dollar Tree and pick up a few of these "Silver" Platters.

They come in three types - Rectangle, Round, & Oval.

Next, take some Chalkboard Paint and coat the entire inside of the platter.

Mine needed two coats of paint.

Here is the finished product (please excuse the price tag, I'm selling these at a local craft fair)!

This cute platter could be used for a variety of purposes:  A Mini-Menu Board, A Cheese Platter (with written identification of the different cheeses), A Welcome Sign at the front door or hung on a wreath.  The possibilities are endless!

If you gift this to someone, don't forget to include a piece of chalk!

The Fake-It Yourself Breakdown:

Chalkboard Silver Platter (Platter $1.00, Paint $0.05- on hand)

Total Fake-It Cost:  $1.05
