Oven Shirred Eggs seem to be a staple of every great Bed & Breakfast. They're as easy to make as an Over Easy Egg, but they have the taste and texture of a Cheese Souffle. YUM!
Here's what you'll need:
5 Eggs (or however many you're hungry for!)
5 Tablespoons of Milk
10 Tablespoons of Shredded Cheddar
Salt & Pepper
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.
Crack one Egg in a well greased ramekin. (If you don't have ramekins, you could also use a muffin pan). Pour 1 Tablespoon of Milk over each Egg. Sprinkle 2 Tablespoons of Shredded Cheddar over each Egg. Season with Salt & Pepper to your taste.
Put the ramekins on a cookie sheet and put in the oven for 8 minutes. Keep an eye on them for the last few minutes to be sure they don't overcook. Take them out of the oven and let them sit for about a minute - they will continue to cook a little more.
The Shirred Eggs can be served in the ramekin or gently remove them and serve over Buttered Toast or an English Muffin.
Have a Happy Breakfast!

ReplyDeleteThis looks delicious. I don't eat some of the meat I prepare for the men in my family so I often eat eggs for dinner. This is a new way to fix them.
