Why Pay? Dog Biscuits: Peanut Butter Supa Treats

Remember Reagan, our Scottie?

This is a peanut butter dog!  He loves any treat made from peanut butter (OK, he likes any kind of treat) and we love to give him treats, so we have a good arrangement going!

Oh, how we used to spend hundreds of dollars spoiling him with name brand treats!  But now, even Reagan has gone frugal!

Here's the latest batch of Peanut Butter Supa Treats (aka Fake Kong Stuff'N Mini Dog Treats) that I make for pennies!  Here's how:

Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil
1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
1 Cup Water
3 Cups Flour

Mix all ingredients together to form a dough.

Roll out the dough and cut into long strips, then into the size of Supa Treat you want.

Place the treats close to each other on a baking sheet.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

Separate a week's worth of Supa Treats into freezer bags and label.  Supa Treats will keep in the freezer for 6 months or in your Treat Jar for 1 week.  Put one Supa Treat at a time in your Kong Rubber Dog Toy and let'em have at it!

The Fake-It Yourself Breakdown:

Peanut Butter Supa Treats (Pantry Items $0.40)  Yields 4 Bags of Approx. 24 Treats (only 10 cents a bag!)

Total Fake-It Cost: $0.40

Kong Stuff'N Dog Treats ($6.99 box)

Total Fake-It Yourself Savings:  $27.92*

*Extend that savings out over the course of a year, and it comes to $358.38!

  14. Do these come out hard or mushy (ie my dog can't figure out the Kong thing, so could I feed it to her on the floor and it not get stuck to the carpet?

    1. They come out hard(ish). The won't leave a mushy mess on your floor like Kong Squirt Stuffing will. :)

  20. We have two dogs and a bunny, all three run to the gate at the kitchen doorway when they hear "thier" cupboard open. They all love these... my neice too, she thought they were peanut butter cookies. I make mine round but same thickness, just so they don't fall through the floor in the bunny's cage. If you cook them 20 min then turn off oven but leave in over night, they come out crispier and will last longer.
