Crib Spring Jewelry Organizer

I've had this crazy idea in the back of my mind for a while, but last night I finally got off my butt and got to work on it!  You see, I had a dirty, messy secret hiding in this box:

Sure, it's a nice jewelry box with lots of compartments for separating and organizing my Bling, but it became a dumping ground YEARS ago that then became too overwhelming to tame.  Enter this crazy idea:

What is that?  It's the spring from the bottom of my son's old crib!  Remember the headboard I made with it?  Well, I'm slowly working my way around using the rest!  I hung it on the wall in my closet, got a bunch of "S" hooks from the hardware store and....

...I now have a huge jewelry organizer!

I also picked up a few pegboard wire baskets and hung them with "S" hooks to store my pins, pendants, and post-earrings.

It's so nice to actually SEE what I have all in one place!

Plus, I still have room for more!  Ha Ha!

Do you have an old crib spring sitting in your garage or basement?
Now you know what to do with it!

The Fake-It Yourself Breakdown:

Huge Jewelry Organizer ("S" Hooks $20, Wire Trays $6, Spring $0)

Total Fake-It Cost:  $26.00

Compare to this Overdoor Jewelry Organizer from Get Organized (and mine is 4X the size):  $69.98

Get Organized
Total Fake-It Savings:  $43.98

  4. Ooh, you could totally spray paint this something like silver and it would look even more awesome! It's a great idea. I need something similar but haven't had a crib in about 16 years!
