Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE my neighbors, and because of that I don't want to torture them with visions of me in my PJs toiling over the washing machine!
But then I came across this interesting product called Window Film. It's basically a large-sized Colorform (remember those?) that attaches to the window using a little soapy water. So easy and fun! Here is the result:
Not too shabby, huh?
Now I have the privacy I need, and a beautiful window too!

I have used glass paint for stain glass and painted my windows. But yours is a whole lot easier to do!
ReplyDeleteNot exactly 'frugal', but it does look pretty. As Rose mentioned, there's "Gallery Glass" paint that you paint your window with, inside a pre-lined pattern made with liquid 'leading'. It's a whole lot less expensive, but you need to be crafty to do it.
ReplyDeleteI disagree! Saving $759.00 for the same look is very Frugal. Plus to replicate that very complex design would take a lot of time. This took me literally 20 minutes.
DeleteNot to mention that Gallery Glass has to be a constant pressure on the bottle, and the leading needs to be done on a flat surface and transferred to the glass, because it's liquid, and runs...I've used it, and while I managed to get some success, you risk wasting a lot, learning...plus it's not a cheap as it used to be.
DeleteThis method is darn near fool proof. I've got it on a patio door, my front door with the big pane of glass (it even has leading sealed inside it...it looks like actual panes of stained glass, now. Stopped my whacko-neighbor from going to the door and peering in to see if we're home...and yes, he'd do it at the back door, too.
VERY frugal!
Love the idea! Now if I only I had windows like yours! Mine would just look odd with that on it. :)

I DO remember Color Forms! lol I loved those, and I have always loved the art and beauty of stained glass windows. I'm already thinking of which window I can fake it with now, too. This is beautiful!

It's a huge sheet of vinyl that clings...the manufacturer prints it on an translucent sheet...thank goodness we don't have to do it, color by color. :)
